Neil Brandt is a multi-award-winning filmmaker, producer and industry activist, committed to equitable access and building a more inclusive production ecosystem across the full value chain. As a founding partner of Storyscope, he champions authentic African storytelling that challenges stereotypes and engages deeply with themes of power, identity and social disruption..

Some of his recent credits include the Netflix true-crime series Senzo: Murder of a Soccer Star (2023) and Beauty and the Bester (2025), as well as the Sundance 2020 feature documentary Influence. Across a career spanning more than 200 hours of fiction and non-fiction content, Neil has worked with leading global broadcasters and platforms including Netflix, BBC, ARTE, ZDF, SABC, DStv, Amazon, and Al Jazeera.

In 2025, Storyscope released Free at Last, a documentary series co-produced with ZDF, ARTE, VPRO, and SABC, examining the enduring legacy of apartheid and its intergenerational impact on South Africa. That series won multiple awards locally and abroad.

Neil holds degrees in Economics and International Law from the University of Cape Town. He has served on the boards of SASFED, IPO, DFA and DFMI, and as a jury member for the International Emmys and SAFTAs.
