Loreley Yeowart
Treasurer
Loreley Yeowart is an experienced supervising producer and line producer with a diverse track record across documentary, magazine, reality, animation and drama for both local and international markets. Starting her career in the industry as a freelance make‑up artist and art department stylist on international feature films, she later transitioned into production accounting and production management for a South African television production and distribution company, where she worked her way up to line producing across multiple genres. Drawing on this practical grounding, Loreley now freelances in Johannesburg as a supervising producer and line producer, bringing strong skills in budgeting, scheduling and production oversight to a wide range of screen projects.
In addition to her production work, Loreley is a senior lecturer in Producing at AFDA’s Johannesburg campus, where she contributes to developing the next generation of South African film and television professionals. She holds an MFA from AFDA and received the AFDA Silver Award for Outstanding Achievement in Screenwriting, with her thesis focusing on “Creating Effective Behaviour Change Messages in Television Production,” reflecting her interest in socially impactful storytelling.
Loreley also plays an active leadership and governance role in the sector. She serves as Treasurer of Sisters Working in Film & Television (SWIFT), where she sits on the Fundraising Committee and the Finance, Audit & Risk Committee, and now brings this financial stewardship and organisational experience to her role as Treasurer of SASFED. Her combination of hands‑on production expertise, academic engagement and industry governance experience positions her as a committed advocate for a sustainable, inclusive and accountable South African screen industry.
